On a trip with my folks to the small town of Palacios around Matagorda Bay we passed tons of cotton fields. I love the even rows, the flat coastal plains and the big sky. This is represented in the monotype I made from the trip and am offering for $100 on the Rockport Center for the Arts Fundraiser site.

A few of us with Plein Air Austin chatted about helping Rockport Center for the Arts on the gulf coast after Hurricane Harvey hit and did major damage. The next thing I knew, we had a whole fundraiser planned and running in a matter of days!

We put a call out to our artists to ask for them to donate a small work to raise money to help. The word spread and the response was overwhelming! We had over a 150 pieces donated!

Then I built the storefront - thanks to WEEBLY who donated a full ecommerce package for this event! 

It really has been just amazing. The generosity of artists was wonderful - we have had to stop accepting new work because of the logistics. But if you still want to help RCA recover you can donate directly on their site.

The destruction of Rockport is just about total. The drama of that storm just continued to unfold and then our friends in Florida and the Carolinas were next. I wish we could do more and sincerely hope all are able to recover and rebuild soon.

These are a couple of plein air pieces I did on a painting trip with PAA to Rockport. The middle photo shows the bait shop from the other side, with the damaged Lighthouse Inn in Rockport behind it.

Houston's dreadful flooding seemed to overshadow the damage caused by the actual hurricane that hit the towns from Rockport south to Corpus Christi. This page has some amazing photos which also show many of the rescue workers who worked to exhaustion I'm sure.
