Its been a while since I've visited the ballet. I haven't actually been lately, but I'm revisiting pictures of the young ballerina we hired to pose for us a year ago. I used a limited pastel palette and palette knife and brush.
I'm really enjoying getting more expressive with texture and color and adding little unexpected pops lately. And this board was an interesting texture. I bought it at Jerry's Artarama. It's a Da Vinci brand which is a cheaper* board than Ampersand. The surface almost acted like the oil painting paper I like. The paint dragged nicely, which helped to create texture and build layers. Sort of like dry brush technique. *Note: cheaper not nec. better. :-)
