Back in my hot studio and have a group of new works ready to ship to Tidewater Gallery in NC. The above is a recent favorite. We had this young lady pose for one of our Saturday sessions. She was in full make up for her upcoming rehearsal and we had a couple of costume options. At first she wanted to pose in very beautiful ballerina positions which were impossible to hold, of course. But we finally got her to relax and got some beautiful sketches done. This I painted from my started sketch and photos.

May 1 opens the spring showcase at Castle Gallery in Fort Wayne. I wish I could be in attendance, but will be here in Austin enjoying our beautiful spring weather. We already had summer-like temps, so I am happy to be back in the 70s for a bit longer. I sent some good summery paintings and hope people will enjoy them.
Another one for the show. This image is a little washed out. I'm being lazy lately and using the phone camera. I need to replace my studio lights and haven't gotten to it.
The days have been so beautiful lately. I work at my easel in the mornings and garden all afternoon. Things are looking good outside. Can't wait for some more blooms to start and then have a model outside!
Dropped this painting off for a special show at Hill Country Church gallery with the theme "Hallelujah". I am always amazed at the beauty and power of the human body. After watching these dancers in class once, I was blown away by how physically challenging the work is.
This wasn't jumping and leaping around either but the very basic positions during which every muscle was taut and finely controlled. The girls were sweating and visibly shaking with the exertion of getting those positions perfect.
Dance. Not for sissies.
